WEBSITE PREP

Website design is an investment, one I don’t take lightly when clients book with me. You’re investing in your brand for the long term, and your website is the online home of that brand.

You can explore my service guide or browse my website service pages to learn more about my process, but one thing you’ll notice right away is that clear communication and thorough information are at the core of how I work. Because this is such a significant investment you’re trusting me with, my goal is to make the entire process as smooth, organized, and stress-free as possible.

After you receive your website design proposal, approximately three weeks before your project start date, you’ll receive a welcome packet. This includes a website questionnaire, a detailed project timeline with key dates, an in-depth overview of my process, and clear, step-by-step next steps so you always know what to expect.

That said, if you’re anything like me (very Type A), you probably like to stay ahead of the game. This page is designed to walk you through the assets and elements you’ll want to have prepared before we officially kick off the design process, so you can feel confident, organized, and ready from day one.

01. Clear Vision

Having a clear vision of the inspiration behind your brand’s online home is essential to ensuring we execute it seamlessly, while allowing for full customization so your website feels uniquely and authentically yours. Inspiration is different than copyright infringement, if you need a refresh of the difference, click the page link in my footer to explain more.

02. Visuals

Website visuals can truly make or break your website. No matter how strong the design is, a site can only be so effective ,or so aesthetic, without high-quality images and intentional visuals woven throughout.

For most websites, you should plan to have 15–30 images ready to be used across your pages. I always recommend investing in professional brand photography, as it elevates your website instantly and adds a level of credibility, cohesion, and professionalism that stock images simply can’t replicate.

03. Assets

BRANDING // *If you are working with me for website design only*

You will need to gather your own branding assets. This included: color hex codes / fonts and font files / as well as the purchase of font licensing / patterns or textures wanted / icons or submarks / website favicon / etc

I do not provide any of this, but if you’re looking to create a professional and cohesive brand + website identity, I always recommend our brand + web packages!

04. Voice

If you don’t currently have a website, or you’re looking to take your brand in a new direction, thinking through the voice of your website is an important part of the preparation process. Consider whether you want your copy to be written in “we/us,” “me/I,” or third person, as this choice plays a major role in how your brand is perceived.

Establishing a clear voice is essential for consistency and cohesion across your website and overall brand messaging. If you’re looking for a more in-depth branding strategy or a full brand identity, please reach out separately. If you decide to work with me as your designer (which I would truly be honored to do), you’ll receive a detailed questionnaire. This is where it’s especially important to clearly note the tone and voice you want your website to embody, so we can create a site that feels aligned, intentional, and authentically you.
